Karen English is the author of eighteen books ranging from picture books to early readers to middle grade novels.  Her novel, Francie, was awarded the Coretta Scott King Honor Award.  Hot Day on Abbott Avenue was a Jane Addams Honor Book.  Carver Chronicles: Skateboard Party earned the Gryphon Award, and The Baby on the Way was a New York Times Notable Book.

Karen English was born in Vallejo California, grew up in Los Angeles where she presently resides.  Writing has been her passion since she was seven years old.  Her mother labeled the stories she wrote, The Miss Flouncy Stories.  Presently she sometimes toys with the idea of one day writing an early reader collection of short fiction and calling it The Miss Flouncy Stories.

Karen English is a retired teacher who now has more time to write, but she still misses the children—their candidness and frankness and artless reaction to the world around them.
